Allah, The Exalted says in The Qur’an:
هَلْ أُنَبِّئُكُمْ عَلَىٰ مَن تَنَزَّلُ الشَّيَاطِينُ
تَنَزَّلُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِيمٍ
يُلْقُونَ السَّمْعَ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ كَاذِبُونَ
“Shall I inform you (O people!) upon whom the Shayatin (devils) descend? They descend on every lying, sinful person. Who gives ear (to the devils) and they pour what they may have heard of the Unseen from the angels), and most of them are liars.”
(The Noble Qur’an, 26:221-223)
Many people are suffering from from Jinn posession and are unaware. The Muslim, believes in the unseen, and so we recognize the signs of the mischief of the devils. However, we are often in denial or confused as to why this trial is happening to us.
Alhamdullilah, we know that everything that befalls a believer has good in it. Jinn possession is no different as this trial is one that will force one (by Allah’s Grace and Mercy) to practice their Deen with uprightness in character, word, and deed.
As we can see from the above verses, Shaytan descends upon sinful, lying people. One may ask, don’t we all fall into that category from time to time as we all fall into sin?
The answer is yes.
And due to this we are all affected by the Shaytan. This is due to the balance Allah has on place which gives Shaytan the ability to attack us.
However, Shaytan won’t be able to have complete control over Allah’s chosen guided slaves. Those who stick to the Qur’an and Sunnah and strive with the upmost striving to please Allah. Those who constantly return to Allah in repentance and correct their actions afterwards, are like those who did not sin. They are not liars.
Jinn possession is a signal that our belief in Islam and our actions, (which should confirm that belief) are not in alignment. This unsteadiness in belief is the root cause of hypocrisy and disbelief in the heart.
We must understand that Allah (S.W.T.) has set a balance for all things. There are consequences when we transgress the bounds. The grey fields of hypocrisy and the black clouds of dis-belief are the play areas of the Shaytan. It is in these domains that Shaytan is able to tempt the slaves of Allah even further so that they increase in their wrongdoing and die while they are disbelievers. May Allah, The Most Kind, save us from this end. Ameen.
The believer must take account of his or her own selves before they are brought back to Allah and given their account. Suffering from Jinn possession is a mighty sign that the balances have been tipped to the sides of hypocrisy and disbelief. One who has been afflicted with Jinn possession must be constant in assessing their beliefs and actions, repenting/increasing in worship, and correcting their errors.
You will find many disbelieving folk and even some hypocrites (superstitious Muslims) are mere soothsayers. Some, such as the Christians always to claim to have a message from God or to have seen a “vision” or to have heard from the “spirit”. Even Muslims such is some of the deviant Sufis have fallen into this wicked trap of giving ear to the Jinn and taking their help in spiritual matters.
Some Muslims have fallen in the traps of “Neo Spiritualism”, whereby they inadvertantly “hear” from the spirits, ancestors, or the like. They wear stones and amulets which they believe can ward off harm or bring benefit. They see omens in birds and other things. This is all major Shirk (polytheism)–setting up partners with Allah, and is unacceptable and a grave mis-deed.
Allah, The Exalted says in The Qur’an:
إِلَّا مَنْ أَتَى اللَّهَ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ
“Except him who comes to Allah with a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)].”
My Dear Brothers and Sisters, the trial of Jinn possession is an opportunity given from your Lord, to cleanse yourself before you return back to Him. One should see this condition as an opportunity to answer the call from their Lord by purifying their faith and beliefs.
May Allah grant all those suffering from Jinn possession Shifah. Ameen.
